A two piece rhythm section consisting of Heather Lynne on Upright and Electric Basses and Blake Gowan on Drums and various Percussion devices create the infectious pulse of what has ripened into Rick Redington's band, The Luv, whose soon to be released debut album, "The Circus", will feature recordings with members of The New Riders of The Purple Sage.
The Luv paired alongside their fearless & magnetic leader Rick whose experience & travels found his instrumental " Strange Fate" from the album "Sweet Life" produced by grammy winning Jay Newland(Norah Jones) recently chosen by documentary film maker, Ken Burns for “National Parks: Americas’ Best Idea”, to two album recordings with Legendary Rock N’ Roll Hall Of Famers, Jorma Kaukonen & Jack Casady of Jefferson Airplane & Hot Tuna, a United Nations performance for the New York Aids Film Festival featuring Lucy Lui & a movie appearance with Billy Ray Cyris, "Radical Jack", The Luv weaves a tapestry of rhythmic cadence backed by Rick's seasoned & deeply resonant vocals as his playing colorfully weaves it all together.
The band rolls in a 1970 Flxible Tour Bus, driven by R.R himself. www.myspace.com/theluvbus, through the deep freezing climates of the Northeast Kingdom near the Canadian border, down to the rolling hills of Virginia, whether its in an intimate coffeehouse setting , a TV appearance, or beneath a festival's lights, a live video shoot from NYC's Greenwich Village, to Vassar College's progressive Radio Station, the trio lures its crowd with sweet sounds of Americana and Roots Rock Rhythms designed to pump your blood & rock your soul.
“Luv Americana Style” sets give folks a chance to hear the music and connect with different meanings in their own lives. Songs like “Montana," “Gabriel," “Sweet Life” and “The Circus all translate best in this scaled down and more intimate version of what The Luv has to offer, teasing the audience for a second set of Bass, Drums, Guitar & Vocals and a Power Luv Trio that will shake the rafters off your neighbors garage!
“Feel The Luv” when it comes into your town, & smacks you right on the lips and swings it RIGHT DOWN through your HIPS! This ain't your Daddy or Mommas Rock anymore!
It shoots at you with its deep thumping lows and back grinding beats till the screaming wails can no longer be held back and we find ourselves all swaying to some primordial funk that we’ve decided to share just between us.
Songs Like “Sweet Merry Jayne," "Look Around," “Those Changes," and “Eliza” will leave you sticky and sweet like a hot cinnamon bun!
